Bukchon Dodam, the restaurant I will introduce today is a restaurant that specializes in Korean food. It is located in Bukchon which is a place visited by a lot of tourists but the food here is really good and is good for its price making it a favorite to Korean locals living nearby as well. The price and taste of the food here is really good so it is a restaurant that I can proudly introduce to Creatrip members.

Gyeongbok Palace Tasty Restaurant : Bukchon Dodam | Precautions
- Please abide by the reservation date, and time.
- Reservation cancellation and refund it possible up to 3 days before the reservation date.
- If you are more than 10 minutes late to the reservation your reservation will automatically be cancelled.
- A reservation is not possible between 15:00 - 17:00 as it is the break time for employees.
- Communication in Chinese is possible here.

- Directions : Come out of Exit 2 of Anguk station and turn right after crossing the intersection. Turn left on the alley where there is a Starbucks and if you walk a little bit further you will arrive at Bukchon Dodam!
Come out of Exit 2 of Anguk Station.
Turn to the direction the arrow is facing.
Cross the intersection immediately after turning around and go right.
Go into the left alley where Starbucks is.
If you walk a little bit after turning left you will be able to see Bukchon Dodam on your left.
Gyeongbok Palace Tasty Restaurant : Bukchon Dodam | Review
This is the entrance of Bukchon Dodam. From the outside it looks like a regular house. Shall we go inside?
It is a restaurant that was once a Hanok (Korean Traditional House) on the basis of a white and wood theme. The interior is not too fancy and gives a cozy feeling.
There are rooms that you sit down after taking off your shoes and rooms with tables which are all private rooms where you can come as a group.
You can see that they have put great detail into the interior. The inside of the store had a lot of points to take photos as it way pretty.
Shall we go enjoy the food now? I ordered the Set Meal for 4 People.(₩80,000 → ₩75,000)

Various side dishes and a soy sauce sauce comes out for the Leek Jeon. The side dishes change based on the ingredients that are fresh matching the season. The side dishes that came out today are from the left, Dried Shrimp, Mixed Garlic Stem, Yeolmu Kimchi, and Mixed Seasoned Bean Sprouts.
This is the Half and Half Bossam (Medium). It is half and half as the parts of the meat are half pork belly and half hind shank. The pork belly meat is really soft and the hind shank is really chewy.
You will see why Bossam is the main menu of Bukchon Dodam when eating it together with Kimchi. It is really.. really good
The next menu is the Nakji Bokkeum (Stir-fried Octopus). The color already makes it look delicious right?
The Octopus has a great taste with the slightly spicy sauce blended right on to the various vegetables and octopus. It is just the right spice level making it perfect to eat together with rice.
Next is the Leek Jeon which is Jeon that has Leek and various other vegetables. You can cut it with scissors into a good size to eat in one bite.
You can eat the Leek Jeon together with the soy sauce. The crunchy texture, and the soy sauce sauce makes a perfect combination. If you haven't eaten Jeon in Korea yet, I recommend you eat Leek Jeon at Bukchon Dodam!
The next is Sulguk (Hangover Soup). Sulguk comes from the saying that it is a perfect soup to eat together with Sul (Korean word for alcohol). It might be called Sulguk but no amount of alcohol is inside it! It is boiled beef bone broth with radish, green onion, chilis and other ingredients to give it a refreshing and slightly spicy taste.
You can use the separate dishes they provide to get your own share of the Sulguk. People eat Sulguk while drinking alcohol and they also drink Sulguk to cure their hangover the next day. It is really tasty!
Every set meal includes Makgeolli (Choose 1 from Jipyeong, Deoksan, Nurungji, or Chestnut). Makgeolli is a traditional alcohol of Korea that ferments various types of grain such as rice, barley, and more.
I ordered the Jipyeong Makgeolli. While regular Makgeolli is made from rice, Jipyeong Makgeolli is made from wheat making it hard to find in the streets. It was really good. Another great tip is that if you come before 2pm, the Makgeolli is unlimited!
Bukchon Dodam is a tasty restaurant that you can come with whoever regardless of if they are your family, loved one, or friends. If you order a set meal according to the number of people that come with you, you will be able to eat a filling meal.
If you come to Gyeongbok Palace Bukchon, I highly recommend you come to <Bukchon Dodam> and enjoy a set meal. If you don't make a reservation you may have to wait a long time during lunch hours or on the weekend. Make sure to receive a discount through Creatrip~
